I’m retired so I generally use the bus for leisure and shopping, I probably use it about four or five days a week. I think the modern buses are more comfortable than the buses I remember from my childhood, and much nicer! It gives me time to read whatever book I’m reading that day and on longer journeys, if I’m coming to Edinburgh from Glasgow, then I can read the paper and do the crossword.
I’m old enough to miss conductors and conductresses! I think the driver’s job got much harder and more stressful when they had to take over that role, but people thanking the driver suddenly sprang into being after that, people are generally always very polite. There’s always people who are willing to chat and there’s always conversations that you can inadvertently hear even if you’re not involved in them which is sometimes very interesting!
